“The thing about football – the most important thing about football – is that it is not just about football.” – Terry Pratchett – Football.  A game of yards and 4th downs, interceptions and intensity.  It’s the power behind a defensive tackle, the beauty of a perfect spiral and the heartbreak of a field goal […]

THE SNOW VALLEY AERIAL PARK, EDMONTON Those first unsure footsteps, shaking hands, a nervous but determined face, gentle words of encouragement…. and a zip-wire so fun it needs to be crossed half a dozen times before moving on.  A mix of rainbows, platforms, adrenaline inducing pathways and strategically placed rest areas suspended high above the […]

Beach Sand in my Hourglass: This is Cavendish, PEI

“In the end, I still prefer the sound of the winds in the firs across the brook more than the tinkling of crystal.” -Anne of Green Gables- Prince Edward Island is a place like no other.  It’s not just a step back in time, but a place where time itself seems to linger, running a […]

Alberta’s Majestic Backyard: This is Banff, Canada

It’s Not Just Water: My ‘Waterlust’ Affliction

March 29, 2016 Passports and PigtailsUncategorized

“Water is to me, I confess, a phenomenon which continually awakens new feelings of wonder as often as I view it.” -Michael Faraday- I suffer from what I affectionately call “Water-Lust”, a deep yearning to be near the waves, to stick my toes in the sand and listen to the roars and the ripples.   I […]

This is my kind of cake 🥃

Yesterday, Teen B (now 18+ B ) had the opportunity to join in some fun at local ‘Grain to Glass’ hot spot Rig Hand Distillery Ltd. She spent the morning cutting potatoes and learning about liquor, bringing home this award winning bottle of creamy carrot cake heaven. We enjoyed a sample over ice, and seriously leveled up our morning coffee game. It’s THAT good.

Specializing in Vodka, Gin, Whiskey, Rum and Liqueurs, this craft distillery is both sourced and produced locally. Popular options include the Apple Pie Double Double Liqueur, Garlic or Raspberry Vodka, Sugar Beet Brum and Kikawinaw Sparkling Gin Tea.

If you’re looking for a unique gift, or date night idea that supports local, this is IT.

Cheers!!

HUGE NEWS!! Cinderella lost her shoes but found her footing in the heart of the earth. ❤️

Our graduated girl is officially spreading her wings and forging her own path to embrace living a life in the Rockies and working with Banff Lodging Company! We have always encouraged our kids to choose their journey, whatever it looks like, where ever it takes them, and to embrace all the unique opportunities life offers. We couldn’t be more proud and while we will feel a big piece missing from our house, it will always be home. ❤️
