OKANAGAN VALLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA Winding along Route 97 and the roughly 200 km stretch of Okanagan Valley in beautiful British Columbia, is a veritable feast for the senses.  The taste of fresh picked peaches, apricots and cherries lingers on your tongue, while the sweet, soothing scents of sage and lavender hang in the air.  A […]

Alberta to host rapid COVID-19 testing pilot of international travellers

While the 'Rapid Test' pilot project announcement today is not the answer to our personal Hawaiian Christmas prayers (we fly via Vancouver) this definitely shines a huge ray of hope for the travel and tourism industry, and thus, our economy.

"Calgary International Airport and the Coutts border crossing will be the first in Canada to replace mandatory 14-day quarantines for international travellers with rapid testing, the Alberta Government announced Thursday." For more information, refer to the article below.

Despite the bumps of 2020 our family has so much to be grateful for. These beautiful human beings are my greatest gift. The gathering around our table was smaller than usual, but we still celebrate our wealth of health, happiness and love. Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours ❤ ... See more

Photos from Passports and Pigtails's post

As we head into Canadian Thanksgiving, I am most grateful for moments of peace amidst the chaos of 2020. It hasn't been an easy year for anyone. We are removed from loved ones and friends. Many have felt the stress and anxiety of job loss or wage reduction. Kids have had their social, academic and extracurricular lives turned upside down. Many have experienced the fear and loss of the pandemic too closely. But still, our family has found many ways to persevere and to be even more tightly woven as a unit.

For me, Elk Island has always been a place to escape the headlines and upheaval. And by going early morning, mid week, we had the entire park nearly to ourselves. Crisp air meant a huge variety of wildlife, we saw more bison than I ever remember seeing, heard coyotes yipping in the distance, passed slowly by a sleeping heron and sat and watched a massive elk graze in the distance. Sometimes just removing the noise from our life can do wonders for the soul. Happy Thanksgiving, may you still find many moments to be grateful for ❤
